How to tell if Crystal Reports is installed on a workstation and the version number

Crystal Reports in New York is a report building program that comes with every Raiser's Edge database. This solution describes how to tell if Crystal Reports is installed along with The Raiser's Edge. In addition, the version of The Raiser's Edge installed determines the version of Crystal Reports that is needed. Crystal Report versions 8.5 and XI are a separate install from the Blackbaud software. View the list of what version of Crystal Reports is shipped with Blackbaud software.

To find out if Crystal is installed on a workstation:

1. In Windows click on Start, All Programs and locate Crystal Reports for Blackbaud (8.5) or Crystal Reports XI (11)

2. Alternatively you may see a folder group called Business Objects XI
3. You may also use Windows search to locate the file CRW32.EXE on your hard drive
Crystal 8.5 will normally be installed in C:\Program Files\Seagate Software\Crystal Reports\
Crystal XI R1 will normally be installed in C:\Program Files\Business Objects\Crystal Reports 11.0\
Crystal XI R2 will normally be installed in C:\Program Files\Business Objects\Crystal Reports 11.5\

To locate version information outside of the Crystal Reports Application:

1. Right-click on the file CRW32.EXE (located in search above) and select Properties
2. Select the Version tab to find file version OR
3. Double-click CRW32.EXE and select Help, About Crystal Reports from the menu bar. The version is listed on the pop-up window.

To locate version information within the Crystal Reports application:

1. Click on Help > About
2. Note the number that is listed after Product Version
3. Compare the version number to the table below
